        Clavius crater , is the third largest visible on the Moon and also one of the oldest craters on the Moon. Clavius ​​is approximately 225 km (140 miles) and was formed by an asteroid impact about four billion years ago. Although it is well preserved, Clavius ​​show his age through several small craters impacts within that later formed.
    Clavius ​​is located on south of the crater Tycho, coordinates 58.4 ° S 14.4 ° W. It is named after German mathematician and astronomer Christopher Klaus (1538-1612), whose name was latinized Christop Clavius​​.
