Serving some Astronomy. Kepler telescope images.

Here is an overview of the area of the west center of the Moon, on which is found Kepler crater, a small one but which quickly makes his presence visually because of the increased albedo in its its rays, that covers a very large lunar area.

Kepler (32 km) is located on Oceanus Procellarum. On Southeast we find another crater almost identical, but less deep. This is the crater Encke (28 km), with a depth of 800 m (Kepler has 2,6 km depth), and around it are its satellite craters. Between the two craters is a distance of 114 km.

East of Kepler, is Mare Insularum on which we see the small crater named Milichius (13 km). West of Kepler, left in image, notice Marius (41 km) crater whose floor is not visible, being in darkness.

View of Kepler crater by my telescope (video).




Kepler crater (32 km) , is not large in size , but despite this , it is easy to observe through a telescope , due to a high albedo rays on this dark plateau on Oceanus Procellarum which are spread in all directions and Mare Insularum . Can be easily distinguished and because the craters in this area are few in number.
There is also a crater on Mars named after Kepler .

In this video , the Moon was captured at perigee , its distance from the Earth closer than usual at 360,270 km from us.
Eponymous of this crater, is Johannes Kepler, an important figure in the world of astronomy . He lived between the 15th and 16th centuries and was a German mathematician , astronomer and astrologer , known most for the laws of motion of the planets.
Kepler was a student of Tycho Brahe , and the strange partnership of the two revolutionized science, and forever changed the understanding of heaven.

Aristarchus and Marius craters seen through telescope.

17 shots, to 95% best quality in Registax.

These Moon images have something in common : all are located in Oceanus Procellarum basin . In the first image we see craters like Aristarchus and Herodotus . The first of them , in other lighting conditions at a different phase of the Moon, when the Sun shines at a high angle , it has an unusual glow which has been questioned by many conspiracy theotists . This is due not only because of the intense brightness , but Aristarchus has a strange bluish - green color that is not found in any other albedo of craters on the Moon .

In these images , night falls on the Moon and craters were partially shaded floors .

In the second picture are two other craters at a distance of 397 km from each other : Marius left and Kepler right.

 Marius (41 km) is a flooded crater and here at this phase we can better observe it's smooth floor and sharp edges , with no prominent collar as on the other craters. Around it are scattered small craters , many of them its satellite craters .

Kepler (32 km) was formed after a violent impact , and we can tell that by the white rays which represents the ejection of debris were scattered in all directions over a large area , radiating more from north west, near Marius crater .

Video crater Kepler and Marius in darkness through telescope.

Kepler (32 km), is a crater located on Mare Imbrium. This one has a ray system from the impact that created it, which spreads on a large lunar surface. These rays are intertwined with those of Aristarchus crater located far north of it. These rays are quite visible in these videos through the telescope.
Southeast of Kepler, 113 km far, is a crater that although similar size, don't have a ray system and is less deep,
called Enke (29 km). A comet and this crater are named after the German Astronomer, Johann Franz Encke.

The filmed area in general is devoid of other
notable craters, given that there are large basins of lava that on which are scattered several small craters, and several regions with high peaks.
The crater on terminal (there is not the edge of the Moon), is Marius
(41 km), , which to me is in a unique situation, because I have never seen it in such conditions, filled with darkness. Also, I didn't know that it has an outer rim with a collar so high and so big.

Kepler Crater video in bad weather conditions.

Kepler, at first glance, gives the impression that as a bag of flour dropped on the floor, because of the intense albedo that surrounds it, spread on all sides. This is due to ejection from the impact that created it. This is not the most clear video with Kepler, but this is due to the Moon's phase at the time, bad atmosphere and because under these conditions the camera could not focus constantly.

Video by telescope. From Kepler to Grimaldi. Moon craters.

Video starts from ray crater Kepler, and then crossing Oceanus Procellarum on wich appears Reiner crater and Reiner Gamma above (which shows a high albedo). We move toward the edge of the Moon, where crater Grimaldi is, wich looks like a dark stain.

There is no shadow on the Moon in this video, and in full light, Moon soil has a different look because in these conditions, the edges of craters or ridges heights are not discernable, but only dark spots, bright spots, rivers and rays of light.

Kepler crater (Video) through telescope

A video with Kepler crater  which lies between Oceanus Procellarum at west and Mare Insularum at east. On the last seconds of the clip appears Marius crater.

Kepler (32 km diameter) , period is a crater from copernican period named after a german astronomer Johannes Kepler, famous for the three laws of planetary motion. The impact boulder that created the crater Kepler was strong enough to cause a continues blanket on the impact,that excavated the material  from the deep. Surface material was thrown at distance from the crater, while material from the depth of the crater was cast on the rim.

    These three photos are snapshots of a video.Vignetting is visible on the edge of the images but I did not cut it because for not losing some regions.
       Today I will analyze the second image, and I'll write something about Kepler crater (32 km) from the center of the photo.
       Kepler is a crater that lies between Oceanus Procellarum and Mare Insularum west to the east. In the southeast is the crater Encke (in a photo 1 is to the east, in photo 2 is on the west by Kepler).
       Kepler is most notable for the prominent ray system. The rays spread around over a distance of 300 kilometers, which overlap with other craters.One of Tycho's rays that extends on the Oceanus Procellarum, intersects with Kepler.
       Other craters that
 are visible in photo 2: Marius crater (41 km.)-one with a perfectly round shape north of Kepler (and Marius A under him), Reiner (30 km.) top-most in the middle,and Aristarchus (40 km.) on the right on the picture.

Crater name is taken from the german mathematician, astronomer and astrologer Johannes Kepler (27.12.1571-15.11.1630). He is best known for his laws of motion of planets. Astronomers, later, codified this laws by his works : Astronomia nova and Harmonices Mundi.
